For a new Video I needed the possibility to control the Camera with an IMU Chip (Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Magnetometer). So I decided to write a new Blender AddOn: “IMU Animator”. I didn’t know Python, the programming language for Blender AddOns, and I have to say that I don’t like it, but in 2 days I’ve did the job. The result you can see in my YouTube Video.
I like this new AddOn very much, because it’s so easy to use. Connect the IMU Board via USB, select the USB Port, Baudrate and String Separator, then select the Object you want to control (“Anim Obj.”) and you are ready to go. Press “Activate IMU” and then the Camera will fly around like you are holding the IMU Board.
The Arduino IMU Board have to send a String with Quaternions (4 numbers as W,X,Y,Z with a separator Character) like this:
